This volume focuses on the Early Jurassic global change known as the Jenkyns Event or Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event. A profound palaeoenvironmental perturbation occurred, characterized by global warming, sea-level rise, carbon-cycle perturbation, oxygen-depleted conditions in epicontinental basins and a subsequent erosion of marine biodiversity, finally leading to a second-order mass extinction.
