About the Cover

Cerro Aconcagua (6962 m), in western Argentina, is the highest mountain outside Asia and the tallest in the Americas. It lies within the accretionary Andean Orogen and formed through non-collisional coupling between the downgoing Nasca oceanic plate and continental lithosphere of the South American plate.
