About the Cover

Cover Figure

Seismic image of force folding in the Eocene sands and shales of the outer Moray Firth. The folding is the result of compaction of the shales around relatively competent channel sands. Fractures associated with the bending of the shales have allowed the upward injection of fluidized sands which now form sandstone dykes over 400m long.
