CD-ROM and its application to the petroleum industry

Over the last few years CD-ROM has emerged in many industries and professions as an essential means of distributing and accessing information. The petroleum industry, however, has been slow to realize the potential of this medium with, until recently, only a few isolated applications available. A detailed description of the CD-ROM medium and its manufacture is provided and its relevance to the oil industry discussed. Some examples of early and current applications are presented and discussed.
