Data Management

Data management in the National Geological Records Centre

R. C. Bowie

British Geological Survey, Keyworth, Nottingham, NG12 5GG, UK

The National Geological Records Centre (NGRC) has collated large collections of borehole records (600 000) manuscript geological maps (50 000) and site investigation reports (19 000) with other collections of original and archive material. The majority of these data are now digitally indexed and searches can be carried out interactively on computer or via a GIS as part of a comprehensive enquiry service.
