The Institution of Mining and Metallurgy (IMM) and the Irish Association for Economic Geology (IAEG) have felt for a long time that the absence of usable definitions, particularly in the City was bringing the minerals industry into disrepute. The IMM has now addressed this problem and has published draft proposals to be presented to the membership. This paper presents a brief personal review of these proposals and suggestions for further improvements.
