The role of Annie Greenly in the elucidation of the geology of Anglesey

T. P. T. Williams

Gwynedd & Môn RIGS (e-mail: iss006{at}bangor.ac.uk)

Annie Greenly (née Barnard) is the great woman standing behind Edward Greenly. During his 25 years of surveying and producing the two volumes of the Memoir of Anglesey, she played a crucial role producing the index among other things. Her interaction with Greenly, first in the Highlands of Scotland and then on the Island of Anglesey, is detailed in this paper. Greenly outlived his wife by many years but he always acknowledged the debt he owed her.
