Three lithostratigraphical members have been distinguished within the Leine Anhydrite of western Poland: (i) pseudospherulitic anhydrite, (ii) spherulitic anhydrite, and (iii) cryptospherulitic anhydrite. Because of its characteristic spherulitic texture and considerable lateral extent, the Leine anhydrite is considered to be a useful marker unit throughout a considerable part of the Central European Zechstein Basin.
